With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics about to begin, Westpac wanted to flex its claim to sponsoring the Australian 2020 Olympic team.

Working with another creative at DDB, we created a campaign across all channels called ‘The Biggest Swim’. Starting with TV and online video, we feature Kieren Perkins (or another Aussie swimming star) vocalising a show of support to the 2020 team, then starting off a swim in the ocean, gradually more and more people from the side of the beaches pipe up with their support then jump in the water and join him, creating a giant spectacle of support.

We amplify the campaign through social and digital channels by crowd sourcing all Australians quotes of support, off the back of a real life ‘Biggest Swim’ where people can later login to a site and see themselves doing the swim and see their messages of support and seed the content to their own channels. OOH features QR coded Spotify playlists at bus stops of Australian anthems to help rally everyone together.

Clients loved the idea and the campaign wheels were rolling until COVID stuck down the Olympics and everything came to an unfortunate grinding halt.
